Blu-ray and HD-DVD's gets more data on to a disc than a conventional DVD by using shorter wavelengths of light to store more data in the same space. HVD ( Holographic Versatile Disc ) uses two lasers (green and red) and two layers on the disc. Optware is set to release a 30-GB holographic versatile card by the end of 2006 for less than a dollar. But the skeptics are doubtful of the lifespan of HD-DVD over the current DVD formats, which has a long span.
